Lessons: Deciding how to liveCooking Lessons

There is one hope for me.

My husband thinks I am hopeless, and my kids think I am hopeless and my parents think I am hopeless, though they all love me anyways.   I am a happy loveable hopeless person! ... more

The world appears to me to be fickled.

A wave named Christmas has come and gone, the values of kindness and giving have been elevated and crashed on the beach. The next wave? The New Year, the values of growth and goals are pushing up into the forefront.

I may be a slow learner but I like to think I am a learner. What is the value of values that come and go? A thing learned is a thing that continues to influence and add to the next thing learned.

The parade of holiday waves has always been a mystery to me, but I never understood why. I have question for the paraders, now that you are treading the waters of goals and growth, did you learn and GROW in the value of kindness and giving? We might as well put all our values into a hat and choose out a new one each day, that would be interesting, at least it would be personal instead of congregate hysteria.

I am not saying that the values the regular parade of national holidays brings are bad. I am saying they are swift fads and mere frenzies, a lot of mouth jabbering year to year unless they stick and become daily fodder.
